This Day in Sports

This Day in Sports is a free daily sports trivia game that tests your knowledge of sports history. Every day, we feature one multiple-choice question based on a real event that happened on that date in sports history.

How it works

A new question is released every day, featuring moments from across all sports. Choose from four answer choices and see if you know the history behind the moment.

Build your streak by answering correctly on consecutive days and compete with other players on the leaderboard. Use the Replay Booth to revisit questions from previous days.

Track your progress with stats including your current streak, longest streak, questions answered, accuracy, career points, and average response time.

What you get every day

Each daily question includes the full prompt, four answer choices, and a written explanation of the historic moment after you submit your answer. That explanation is original editorial content — not just a score or a timer — so every session teaches you something about sports history whether you get the question right or wrong.

Questions span baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, Olympics, college sports, and other major events. We rotate through calendar dates so the game stays tied to "what happened on this day" rather than random trivia.

Points & leaderboard

The daily question includes a 30-second timer. Answer correctly to earn points — wrong answers and timeouts earn zero.

Speed points: the faster you answer, the more you earn, up to 500 points. You will see your speed and streak breakdown after each daily question.

Streak bonus: after a correct answer, you also earn +10 points for each day on your current streak. A 5-day streak adds +50 on top of your speed points.

Points count only for the daily question. Replay Booth answers do not earn points.

The leaderboard shows signed-in players with a display name, ranked by total career points. Use the Current tab to see who is leading now, or All-Time for the top scores across every day.

FAQ

Is This Day in Sports free?

Yes. The daily question, Replay Booth, stats, and leaderboard are free to use.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play as a guest. An account lets you sync stats across devices and appear on the public leaderboard with a display name.

How do points work?

Points come from speed and streak bonuses on the daily question. See Points & leaderboard above for the full breakdown.

How do streaks work?

Answer the daily question correctly on consecutive calendar days to build your current streak. Missing a day or answering incorrectly resets your current streak, but your best streak is saved.

What is the Replay Booth?

The Replay Booth lets you play questions from previous days you missed. Replay answers count toward your total questions and accuracy, but not your daily streak.

Where do the questions come from?

Questions are written around documented sports history moments and checked for accuracy. Each entry includes context explaining why the event mattered.

Accounts

You can play as a guest or create an account with Google or email to save your stats and keep your progress synced across devices. Signing in is optional.
